Job Description

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable backend services using PHP/Laravel and modern PHP practices
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and webhook integrations for third-party services
• Lead code reviews and establish coding standards across the engineering team
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through pair programming and technical guidance
• Design database schemas and optimise complex queries for high-traffic applications
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated testing strategies
• Drive adoption of best practices in security, performance, and code quality
• Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Research and evaluate new technologies for adoption in the tech stack

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Expert-level proficiency in PHP with deep knowledge of Laravel framework internals
• Strong experience with frontend technologies (React or Vue.js with TypeScript)
• Deep understanding of relational databases and query optimisation
• Experience with Docker containerisation and orchestration
• Proficiency with cloud services (AWS or Azure) and serverless architectures
• Experience with Redis for caching and queue management
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and SOLID principles
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
